Culpeper Heritage Horse Trail (CHHT) - Click here for a document describing this effort. To view a map of the trail click here. Both documents will open in a new window. Horse Caution Signs – So far, they have posted ten Horse Caution signs on Maddens Tavern, Edwards Shop, Newbys Shop, and Stones Mill Roads and others in the Stevensburg District & Culpeper areas. Route 3 Underpass – In November we presented our Culpeper Heritage Horse Trail to The Virginia Outdoor Plan, a division of Virginia's Department of Conservation and Recreation which held statewide meetings on future trail development. This opportunity gave us more exposure and support to help us achieve our goal of a trail between Brandy Station, Stevensburg and Kellys Ford. Which in turn will help us get an underpass under the new route 3. Rose Hill Farm - Gardiner recently met with Walter Bell who is the estate manager for Rose Hill Farm in Stevensburg. Rose Hill was the winter headquarters of General Fitzpatrick of the Army of Northern aggression. He has shared with us the plans for Rose Hill which include opening it to the public for historic tours, weddings, B&B accommodations and an equestrian park. The timing could not be more perfect. We now have another supporter of the Culpeper Heritage Horse Trail. A supporter that is investing heavily into Culpeper County. Lenn Brothers Park – The Park is an 80 acre field in Stevensburg donated to Culpeper County. The county is planning baseball and softball fields, a soap box derby raceway and a strip for remote control planes. We would like for them to include a parking area for horse trailers which will allow people to access the Heritage Horse Trail. |
